A Rainway! So Cool!
Clearly, Sean was going to win it if it worked. Nitpicky, but I would have preferred to see blue instead of yellow. I loved Kini's dress, but the hat, not so much.
So this is the point in the competition where I have to re-evaluate my initial favorites. Sam was boring and had to leave. Alexander... I still like him, but he's not 'it' material at this point. I feel like Sean and Alexander entered at a similar point, and Sean is getting into the judges' groove, taking risks, and having a good time... and Alexander is designing and sewing. The purple things did not excite me or the editors. Sandhya.... ooh, I could not get into this jumper and pinwheel coat. Killer fatigue appears to be setting in, as well, if we look at the previews (granted, some of the girls are being Mean Girls).
Is it okay to say that I wish Tim would have saved his TGSave for Fade? Granted, the 'Press Play' dress is just as uninspiring (but better crafted) than the Yellow Nightmare... but... Char? zzzzz.
Korina... *sigh* I wish you hadn't had immunity. The shiny appendage pieces Did. Not. Work. The speed skating look you had before it didn't, either. I love Haida art, but it needs to be thoughtfully and carefully translated into clothing, yes?
Amanda? With the eyes? When you were first blocking your design on the mannequin I was thinking Harlequin again. I would have preferred Harlequin. You're doing weird, but not fun, quirky weird. Not clever, 'a-ha' weird. Not 'look, I'm being ironically tacky' weird, either, though I think that's what you're going for.
So, favorites, I guess. Sean (he's taking risks).... Kini....
Emily? This was such a miss. It reminded me of Andy North's final collection, which was de mode then, several seasons ago. I don't know. There's potential.
I want Sandhya to be set on a better path somehow... and I want Alexander to get inspired... So, Sandhya, Emily, or Alexander perhaps.
