Question: Do you think our courts are convicting too many people?

So, the question that has been posed on the gawker mainpage is whether a record number of exonerations is not necessarily a good thing because it is evidence of a high number of people being wrongfully convicted. I wonder about a few things:

Do you think our courts are convicting too many people (based on the number of exonerations) and if so, what types of fixes are needed for our justice system? If you do think they are either convicting enough (or alternately not enough people), then what do you say about the large amount of exonerations?
