I've had a debit account with U.S. Bank for oh, forever, and today I got a new debit card with a new account number in the mail today. It's a legit card; there was an attached letter that said the bank has identified "a potential risk to [my] account based on fraud patterns impacting a merchant or card processor." I can only assume this is a reference to that huge information security breach that happened at Target on Black Friday (I shopped at Target that day, so yeah). Since news about the breach broke, I've been keeping an eye on my account, and no money has gone missing. Should I be concerned that U.S. Bank felt the need to send me a card? Has anyone else gotten a new card, too?
