For the first time ever, someone has asked me to write a reference letter for them. You’ve all seen my complaints about my current job, and thanks to our lack of a director, a coworker asked me for help. It needs to be a fairly generic letter, not specific to any one job application, but still a decent letter. Do I have to include what our working relationship is? We’re both lead teachers and our classes sometimes spend time at the park together. I’ve never been in her classroom and seen how she teaches, but we’ve talked about what we’re doing. I feel like I’m the wrong person to do this, but our administrator/acting director has truly poor writing skills and would badger her about why she’s leaving and whether she’s found anything yet.
