This trip started out on a stressful note, but I am finally looking forward to it.
Last week we finally got together with the other two couples we are traveling with. At one point, the woman in charge asked for our flight information.
Her: "Oh never mind, you're on all the same flights as [Mr. Peachy's boss's family] right?"
Mr. Peachy: "I am, but Peachy is actually leaving a few days early."
Her: "Oh really? Why?"
Me: "My best friend is coming here to visit me. It was planned before this trip."
Her: "Oh, that sucks."
I managed to refrain from saying what I was thinking, which was "NO, IT DOESN'T SUCK. MY BEST FRIEND VISITING ME IS AWESOME. WHAT SUCKS IS THAT I HAD TO PAY HUNDREDS OF DOLLARS TO COME BACK ON THE DAY I AGREED TO COME BACK BECAUSE MY HUSBAND DOESN'T LISTEN TO ME."
But anyway. The evening was fine. I mean, I didn't instantly love the people I had never met and want to be BFFs, but I think I can handle a week with them as long as I get a sufficient amount of introverted time alone. I like Mr. Peachy's boss in small doses, but he's a rather....let's say "intense" individual, so we'll see how that goes. Don't get me started on his food preferences for the house we'll be in (I can be quite the food snob myself, but this guy is on a whole other level).
Apparently I am supposed to go bathing shopping with the other two women. They trapped me. They asked what I was doing this week, and I foolishly responded "Oh, absolutely nothing! I took my last final today and I only work on Thursdays. I need to find another job, but I'm waiting until after the trip." There was no way out. I honestly don't remember if we ever finalized a day (it was either today or tomorrow), because internally I was thinking
I don't like shopping with people in general. Especially not with people I barely know, especially not for bathing suits, and for you Twin Cities folk, especially not at 50th & France in Edina (for other folk, that means $$$$). Luckily, I have not been contacted to confirm details for this outing, and if I am, I got a last minute babysitting job, mmmkay?
So where was I? Oh yes, I was finally excited for this trip. Mr. Peachy and I went shopping. I got him to go to Ulta to buy sunscreen (so I can use all the points I earn to fuel my makeup habit). I have many books to read. Despite gaining some weight and generally feeling shitty about my body lately, I found a swimsuit that makes me feel cute for $27 at Target. I also got a coverup thing in a SPACE print.
Then, today I checked the weather.
