For all you parents out there: Do any of you get advertisements in the envelope with your kid’s report card?

Every year it feels like there are more of them. This year we were given 10 things to stuff in there. Some, like the Library’s summer reading program brochure, or info about summer day camps seem ok, or even the booklet of coupons for provincial historic sites, but then you get to coupons for the hockey hall of fame, the aquarium, and Canada’s Wonderland, and it seems a bit much.

Parents with more than one kid especially are getting showered in a bunch of “limit 1 coupon per purchase” junk mail when they go to read their kids report cards.

I assume the companies pay to have their stuff in there. It just strikes me as a little odd. What’s next, selling ads on the report cards themselves?
