Running for dummies

So there is a 10K in roughly 3 months that I am seriously considering signing up for. I've never run a 5K before. I think it could be the motivation I need to start exercising again post baby and it was 50 degrees yesterday! I want to be outside. So what do you guys think? Any training guides or tips you can point me to?
