The author of the Secret History of Wonder Woman, Jill Lepore, will be in Toronto at the Lillian Smith Library on December 11th.
The Friends of the Merril Collection and The Beguiling Comics are pleased to present professor Jill Lepore and her new book "The Secret History of Wonder Woman".
A professor of American history at Harvard University and chair of Harvard's History and Literature Program, Ms. Lepore has uncovered an astonishing trove of documents, including the never-before-seen private papers of William Moulton Marston, Wonder Woman's creator. Wonder Woman, Ms. Lepore argues, is the missing link in the history of the struggle for women's rights—a chain of events that begins with the women's suffrage campaigns of the early 1900s and ends with the troubled place of feminism a century later.
Ms Lepore's previous works have been finalists for the Pulitzer Prize in History and the National Book Award for Nonfiction.
The reading and talk will take place at the Merril Collection reading room, the third floor of the Lilllian H. Smith Library, 239 College street. Doors will open at 6:30 PM and the event will begin at 7 PM. The event is FREE.
I know we have some nerdy GTA folks here. Come to Lillian Smith and listen to JIll Lepore!
