I’ve been following the 30 days of self-care, but not participating, and I have some ideas from that, but what I am looking for more specifically is tips on self-care when dealing with a partner who’s temporarily out of commission.
Heisendude had his post-op follow up yesterday, and while he can drive, and has use of two fingers on his right hand, the hand and arm are pretty much out of commission for the next four weeks at least, and probably more realistically three to four months.
So for the last week, and the foreseeable future, all of the house stuff, plus a majority of kid care, and all of the things I normally do are all mine. Plus the emotional stuff like the fact that we’re sleeping in different spots than usual and I keep waking up worried I’m too close to the injured arm, can’t cuddle, processing the injury and recovery, etc. And the kids are processing, too, thus more difficult than usual.
I am not coping well at present, so if anyone has suggestions on how to help that, I would be eternally grateful.
