Sorry for posting twice in one evening, but this letter, shared lovingly by someone on my Facebook feed is just so offensive I cannot help but share and hope others share my disgust. About it is written:
Well, I thought, this must really be an awe-inspiring letter. I was wrong. This pompous and dickish letter spends 700 words largely insulting a man also identified by a photo of him (taken from behind) by our honourable and delightful author. A highlight of the "masterpiece"?
Imagine going out for dinner and a movie, only to have your night ruined by a fat mess who eats half your meal then blocks 50% of the screen. Isn't that exactly the same as having someone who can't control their calorie intake occupying half your seat on a flight? Of course it is, so that's why I'm demanding a full refund of my ticket, including the $25 for an emergency row seat.
That is of course exactly the same thing. And it is good to know that from looking at a person, this guy can identify exactly why he weighs more than the letter writer deems acceptable. Don't take into account that the guy may have also paid extra so that he had more space so he potentially took up less of other seats or the fact that he ALSO PAID FOR A TICKET or that airline seats are getting smaller or anything else.
Nope, appropriate behaviour which is then congratulated by the internet as well as by my Facebook friend, who is leaving my newsfeed from now on is that is okay to single out an individual and attack them for their size all across the internet.
