Sexism (at least in my opinion) Rant of the day About Comic Book Tees and an Asshole

So, yesterday I was looking for 'nerd' shirts (read: comic book themed, my major, Graham Chapman) online, and it pissed me off that like, 90% of the ones I wanted came in men's sizes. The ones in women's sizes were all really girly (nothing wrong with that, but how many 'vintage looking' Wonder Woman tees do I need?), and I was a bit miffed.

So I shared my feelings on Facebook (because that's the best way to get a point across/sarcasm to some extent), and ended up getting into a fight with a 'nice guy' quasi-MRA who happens to be into the same things.

It went a little like this:

Me: I think that the people who make the product should cater to women to make more money, because women are a big part of this sector of popular culture.

Him: Well, a lot of girls aren't into comic book or nerdy things.

Me: Yes they are.

Him: Well, there's no demand for them, unless the shirts are like, Wonder Woman or Batgirl themed. Girls like that more.

Me: I like them, but that shouldn't mean I should have to wear an unflattering men's small if I want an Avengers tee.

Him: Well, you're in the minority.

Me: I don't believe I'm in the minority at all.

So, that's where it stopped. I don't know if I'm overreacting or something, but I would really like some specific tees that only come in men's sizes. There is a lot of sexism, I believe, in this subculture (I don't know what else to call it). Just because it's perceived as a 'guy' thing, doesn't mean there aren't girls out there who want to wear the same shirts as guys. From a capitalist standpoint-because I'm always thinking about the bottom line-it would make more sense for a retailer to expand it's market. From a feminist standpoint (I guess...again, I may have overreacted, but not in my mind), it just seems like a girl who likes The Venture Bros. and wants a shirt with Brock Samson on it should be available, but I guess in the retailers mind it's 'unnecessary'.

Sorry if this is a bit incoherent, because I woke up a bit early, but I had to get it off my chest. Thoughts? Am I being reactionary? Also, if anyone knows where I can get some women's sized tees like the ones I'm talking about, feel free to chime in!
