Help me make casual shoe decisions, please.

It's that time of year when I need to get new shoes, and indecision abounds. For the past few years I've gotten Converse low-tops, which are always a classic, but this year I'm considering Keds for the increased swingability factor/somewhat lower cost. The lower cut on the Keds kind of worries me, what with winter coming on. But on the other hand my last pair of Converse fell apart before summer even started (like "a large chunk of the sole is missing" fell apart), and that's also a major concern. Comfort's also a factor, because blisters = bad. Theoretically I could repair my old pair with some shoo-glue for now, but that seems like a temporary solution at best.

So what do you guys think? Keds, Converse, or something else entirely?
