For sitting down in the street and refusing to move.

Rep. Keith Ellis (D-MN), Rep. John Lewis (D-GA), Rep. Raul Grijalva (D-AZ), Rep. Joseph Crowley (D-NY), Rep. Al Green (D-TX), Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-IL), Rep. Jan Schawkowsky (D-IL) and Rep. Charlie Rangel (D-NY)

This, my friends, is what we want to see. I am so very tired of having to explain to people that my love of politics is mostly cynicism and misanthropy. I used to be an idealist, you know. Back in the day, when I thought that if I just worked hard enough nobody would pay attention to the fact that I was poor and awkward and I'd be able to get the message out. Or that voters really had the capacity to give a shit. And you know why they don't? It's because leadership never does anything exactly like this. This is how you do civil disobedience. Not defunding poverty programs, not throwing fits about whose version of the bill was rejected first, but sitting down in the middle of the motherfucking street with a bunch of people and refusing to move.

Sometimes these moments happen, and I have a little window in which to pump my politico fist and scream RIGHT THE FUCK ON!
