Welcome To The Bitchery

So That's Fun

Apparently, McCormick's won't re-hire me. Why? Honestly, I'm not entirely sure. The manager said something about a "pre-employment check" that apparently didn't even involve calling any former employers. Just the fact that I wasn't eligible for re-hire at ONE place (and only one — the last place I worked, the place I was unfairly dismissed from, the place I won my Unemployment Claim against) apparently prevented me from getting this job, at a company I previously worked for and left on good terms. The worst part was that even when I explained what happened at that job, the manager basically refused to listen and refused to even call my former M&S manager (who still works for the company, and who would gladly put in a good word for me).

I'm honestly not 100% sure what I'm going to do now. I have an interview tomorrow for some sort of sales thing, but it's possible that's a scam. I've been applying both in person and online to everything I can think of (luckily, there's a ton of places just within walking distance), and I'm going to continue doing so. In the meantime, I can still collect unemployment, but it's less than ideal as that can't pay for all my bills (that's $600/month, and rent alone is $525).

I'm really not happy about this. I'm not sure if this is a Landry's thing (McCormick's parent company, and the DOUCHIEST company I've ever seen — this would absolutely be like them), or just a "these managers at this particular McCormick's are dickhats" thing. I can't believe it's a general industry practice — four years of experience has shown me that people can get fired from numerous serving jobs and they'll still get hired. I get fired from one for an unbelievably shitty reason, and I can't find anything? It doesn't make any sense.
