So my college is very big on their environmental image, has tons of marketing about it, has a kickass Env. Sci. dept (*waves*) etc. etc. When they built the nice townhouse dorms a few years ago, they made a huge stink about all the furniture and paint was made from non toxic materials and wouldn't offgas bad fumes.

There's been a strange smell in my hall all day. I recently traced it back to the lounge, and guess what I found?

BRAND NEW CARPETS. OFFGASSING THEIR ADHESIVES AND PLASTICS AND GOD KNOW WHAT ELSE.

I guess the healthy safe materials are only for those who can afford the nice dorms, huh? Way to be classy, college.
