I went to school with Kirsten Brydum about 12 years ago. We weren’t close, but it was a small college (which is now long gone) and we were friendly. She was the most idealistic person I’ve ever met. She was a passionate anarchist and was really warm and sweet. If you were in San Francisco in the mid-2000's, she’s one of the people who started the Really, Really Free Market in Dolores Park.

She was found murdered in New Orleans about ten years ago.

I have checked in on her case a few times, but I stopped because Googling her because, unfortunately, I got a lot of results from white supremacist websites (gloating about a woman with her politics being murdered.)

I checked a few years later and it looked like they had a suspect, but he was deceased. I assumed that was going to be the end of it.

A mutual friend let me know today that there was more information in her case a few months ago. It looks like she was the victim of a serial killer.

It’s so sad, but I am glad the mystery seems solved. Her suspected killer has been sentenced to life for the murders of several other women.
