Maybe I'm overreacting or maybe this just got lost in Lady Gaga's seriously awesome performance, but was anybody else just floored when that number was introduced with an implicit comparison between The Sound of Music and the Selma bus boycotts? I believe it was something like, "50 years ago, this happened, and also this, and Martin Luther King, and then the world was forever changed by The Sound of Music."

Considering the increasing recognition of the overwhelming whiteness (and blandness) of the Oscars, this really stood out to me, but maybe I'm overthinking things.
