For several months, I’ve been working on a quilted baby book for my 8 month old niece. The pages were sewn from textured fabrics (like upholstery), metallic leather, faux fur, and fun cotton prints. The book cover and back were custom images from my recent public domain image searches, with niece’s name on it, and on the back cover, my name. All the pages were bound together using similar methods as real book binders. I packaged it up last night and put it in our foyer for USPS pickup. At 4 a.m. this morning, some people broke into our foyer, stole the package, and rifled through people’s mail boxes.
The infuriating part is the book has no value to anyone else. It’s only relevant to me and my niece (and her parents, my brother and SIL). I’m sure they just threw the book away when they saw what it was. And it’s not like i can go buy a new one for her. Since we’re moving in less than two weeks, all my sewing stuff is packed away and I won’t be able to start on another book for a few weeks. I’m so bummed. I’ve included pics of the book that I took before it was finished.
Ugh. F*ck 2020.
