No one posted this one here yet, so I thought I'd do it. I teach kids like Jarrod Jr who are on the severe end of the ASD spectrum and have behaviors that make it impossible for them to be mainstreamed into public school (even in a certificate program). My school runs 12 months but we're coming up on the August break, which is the longest one for the kids (2 whole weeks!). I will spend the entire time worrying about the welfare of certain students, knowing that they are competing against many siblings for the limited attention of parents who don't fully understand their diagnoses. This is like my very worst nightmare come to life.
