They’re everywhere! My neighborhood is full of off-leash dogs. I’ve seen four just this week, and it’s not like I’m looking for them. One was a tiny old chihuahua I recognized because I returned her to her owners after she “broke out” of their yard several months ago. This morning I ran out the front door when I saw a large yellow dog loitering in our driveway, then saw his owner standing about 30 feet down the sidewalk. LordSparrow was on his way out and pulled up next to the guy to tell him to put his dog on a leash. On Monday I pulled over to wrangle two wandering dogs and was just getting a look at one of their tags when their owners called them from down the block. I want to plaster the neighborhood with printouts of our city’s leash law. Keep copies in my car to hand out. Take your dogs to the off leash park if you want them to run around. There are responsible dog owners here who don’t want your animal running loose up to theirs. There are elderly people, children, probably a few people terrified of dogs. If you don’t care about any of that, you should care about your own damn animal enough to not want it hit by any of the hotshots speeding through here like their asses are on fire. If talking to people when I manage to actually catch them doesn’t start working, I’ll have to start calling animal control.
