I have since removed the post, but I wanted to thank everyone who commented on my last post about a family situation involving my sister and nieces.
Thank you for the information about what happens during a CPS investigation.
Thank you for validating that what’s going on is, in fact, abuse and worthy of a call to authorities.
Thank you for responding with compassion and firmness about the seriousness of what’s going on.
Thank you for being a space where I can post these kinds of things and receive advice and support.
And a heartfelt thank you to all of you who shared your own personal stories. I’m so sorry you went through what you did. But to hear from people who lived through similar circumstances really solidified some decisions for myself and what to do about this situation.
My sister has apparently kicked him out of the house and is calling a divorce attorney. I’m skeptical about whether this will stick. Additionally, even if she does divorce him, she’s been part of the problem for so long that she needs help to re-learn how to be a good parent to Annie and Layla.
That said, the family is rallying. We’re doing what needs to be done to protect the girls, especially Annie, from further being abused. We’re done listening to Sister’s excuses and blaming.
But this is a big THANK YOU to GT for being a space where I can share and receive feedback, support, advice. I had run out of places to go IRL, and I appreciate how this community came through.
