Back story: Elon Musk and SpaceX have started launching all these satellites into space to create a satellite internet network. That’s all well and good, but he didn’t check with any astronomers about this. These things are bright. They’ll dim as they go to their higher orbits, but with tens of thousands of these, plus the ones that Amazon wants to launch, plus whatever other companies want to do, it spells disaster for ground-based astronomy.
It’s a real bummer.
