I’m not going to say that I don’t want to be in a relationship because that would be a bold-face lie. I love love, lurve it even, and would like to find a forever partner.
HOWEVER, having recently ended another relationship, I’m becoming more comfortable with the idea that I could be single forever, or at least for a long time. The vision I had as a teen of being married by 26 and done having my 2 kids (HAHAHAHAHAHAHA) is well dead at this point, and not what I want as an adult.
There are many perks of being in a relationship; the ones I am fond of are: having a consistent activity partner, having regular sex, and having someone to help drive you around when the mechanic takes your car all day.
But, there are also things I LOVE about being single—some things I would NEVER do in front of a partner, and others I would only do in front of a partner that I’ve been with for a certain amount of time, and I just haven’t been in a solid enough/long enough relationship for a while.
My Top Fav Perks of Being Single:
- Binge-watching all the fashion, cooking, and trashy TV shows (some I’ve watched multiple times through already) as often as I want
- Farting with abandon and without shame
- Living in squalor
- Not shaving for 6 months without any sense of obligation to do so for my partner
- Taking up the whole bed when I sleep
