The manner in which the Masters of Astapor, the Second Sons, the Dothraki Khals and their bloodriders speak to her is frequently astounding. Is this a comment on men’s treatment of women in power or a comment on the (mostly brown) cultures with which Danaerys comes into contact?
Quite a few of this show’s female characters have been threatened with rape, but she’s the only one for which the men threatening her sound like they’re oozing dirty talk at a naughty girl. Threats or actions of rape against (Westeros-located, but also less powerful) Brienne or Arya or Sansa have been violent, but with Dany, they’re downright lusty. I have to imagine that distinction exists for a reason and seeks to tell us something.
