Suspected High School 'Prostitution' Incident(s) in Tennessee

Six students are currently suspended and facing repercussions for possible involvement in an alleged prostitution scandal that supposedly took place on the grounds of Bolton High School in Shelby County, TN.

According to sources, a freshman girl, aged 14, made it known that she was available for sex acts during lunch hour in one of the boys' bathrooms. Allegedly, she accepted payment for her participation in some of these acts.

Shocking as this may be, what rankles the most is not that this was occurring - and we can all play armchair psychoanalyst on this girl another time - but the unnamed student source that WMC Action News used for their coverage was responsible for the above quote (he was also gallant enough to turn the girl down, thankyouverymuch).

Obviously, there is more to this story than what one young person reported to either the authorities or what Action News was able to unearth. This is the same school that made headlines last month when two roommates in their 30s - a former teacher at Bolton High and a Memphis firefighter - were indicted by a grand jury for aggravated statutory rape of a 17-year-old girl. Regardless of which way you slice it, the community surrounding Bolton High has a serious problem, and pointing fingers at the young women involved is definitely not the first step toward a solution.
