Let’s talk silly time management fails. Today yours truly was like hmm, it’s cool outside and I have a fuckton of apples and a fuckton of half pint jars, I should make apple butter.
I checked three recipes and managed to confuse the timing on the one I ended up with and like an hour ago when I went to use the stick blender to puree things, I was like hmmmmmmmmm this is way too soupy. The fuck am I doing wrong?
This recipe starts the same as the others, but also had a “let simmer uncovered for 2 hours, stirring regularly” line that I managed to gloss over.
Oh well, it was also the recipe with lower sugar which was what I was going for. So it makes sense that it takes longer to render down with less sugar helping it thicken up.
Anyhoo, my house smells so fucking amazing thanks to apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves. And maybe in like 2-3 hours I’ll be done canning my apple butter!
