Once a year my grandma‚Äôs retirement community has a ‚ÄúTreasure Sale,‚ÄĚ which is basically the residents getting rid of stuff they don‚Äôt want. That doesn't sound especially exciting, but actually you can usually find some pretty cool stuff. Family of residents are allowed to come, and everything‚Äôs really cheap. In fact, for the last half hour of they sale, you can buy bags for five dollars and get whatever you can fit in it them. So‚Ķ here are bad phone pictures of the shit I got today, displayed on my bed which makes a terrible background because the cover is too busy:

Books!

That's The Complete Works of Lewis Carroll, and The Travels of Marco Polo The Venetian. Printed in 1942 and 1948, respectively. The Marco Polo book has a map on the inner cover, and is illustrated.

I got some dishtowels. That's not very exciting, but I liked them...

And here are my spoils from the "White Elephant Room," which is where all the totally random crap goes. This guy was the lone cool thing on a table of really tacky shit. I think he's a Hindu god?

Here's a somewhat beat-up elephant. I'm not sure what he's made of but he's heavy.

A cool old box of poker chips. They're unopened, and I think I'm just going to display them.

And then I got a bunch of playing cards:

On the left are some Monet playing cards that come in a box, and on the right is this... thing... that looks like two books, but holds two decks.

More of the red holder. The cards are pretty old.

And finally, this deck of gorgeous French cards. The cards are still shrink-wrapped and I'm hesitant to open them, but I want to see the rest of the art.

And lastly... here is my grandma in some old-fashioned opera glasses my uncle got. The box they came in was cool, but I didn't get a picture of it.
