I’m listening to my favorite film podcast, Fighting in the War Room, and my dear lovely film critic David Ehrlich insulted Hamilton! (The musical, not the human.) This might be the first time I’ve ever been truly angered by an opinion of his. But later in the episode he goes off on a rant about how the lack of women filmmakers is an institutional problem, and the solution is that people who think of themselves as progressive have to take on the responsibility of putting their ideals into practice. FINE EHRLICH! I FORGIVE YOU! (Also, this seems so simple why don’t more people get it?)
Also, inspired by this Ted Talk about reading books from every country in the world, I’m reorganizing my bookshelf so that works in translation, or works by authors not from US/Canada/UK, are the ones that I’ll see and read first.
What are you all up to on this chilly Tuesday?
