If they worked like embedded movies where you could stop and start them it would be better, but they don’t. They are constant clips of motion, drawing your eyes away from where you want to focus. The worst cases are where you have a video in the middle of the screen and gifs above and below it so that while you’re trying to focus on the video, these stupid, jerky, nonstop repetitions of one small motion keep distracting you. When I’m trying to read text, gifs in the surrounding areas almost give me headaches. I’ve tried to get used to them; I’ve even tried to jump on the bandwagon by using them a few times, but it’s no use.
