UPDATE: THANK YOU SO MUCH! You guys are just the fucking best. Your suggestions are all wonderful, and I really appreciate that time you took to write these out for my sister and her babe. I’m so excited to read to him/her! Hugs and kisses and kittens to you all!

Hello, my noble and poetic land merpeople,

My sister is looking for children’s books that are sort of outside the norm of “Goodnight Moon”. She’s got those staples, but is now looking for books that are maybe a little quirky and some that showcase more diversity. Do you guys have any suggestions? I have all the suggestions for when her baby is a bit older, but I’m at a total loss when it comes to children’s books. I love “Blueberry Girl” by Neil Gaiman, but that’s about all I’ve got. (She isn’t finding out the gender of her baby.)

Anyone got anything good they can throw our way? As always, your wisdom is greatly appreciated.
