This is of course, speaking hypothetically, not referring to actual ability.
But, as this Screamer piece talks about, a LOT of players as this year's World Cup were eligible to play for multiple countries when it came time to choose a country to suit up for thanks for FIFA's eligibility rules.
Under FIFA guidelines, a person is eligible to play for a country based on these circumstances:
- They were born there
- A biological parent or grandparent was born there
- They have lived there for five consecutive years after turning 18
So, that leads us to today's fun game: What countries could you play soccer for?
Myself? Obviously the United States. But, since my grandmother was born in Canada, I could play for them as well.
