Background: RCMP and CSIS thwarted a plan by two terror suspects to use VIA Rail train as a vehicle for bombing.
Update: It appears that the train's route was from Toronto to New York. The RCMP believes that the operatives were in planning stages. It also appears that an Imam, from the Toronto Muslim community, brought individuals to the RCMP's attention. The first of the accused faced trial today in Toronto, the other will be tried in a Montreal Court. By all appearances it seems that authorities are utilizing our current laws and judicial system to prosecute the suspects.
However there will be a vote in the House of Commons today regarding the expiration of Canada's anti-terror laws and possibility or renewing them. HarperCon's are being accused of using recent events to speed the renewal of these anti-terrorist provisions.
