What are you gearing up for project-wise this weekend? Any updates on the recent projects? Also whatever else.

My furnace project is dry and Saturday we will melt things.

I did find a great article on why I didn’t just need to get it hot enough to drive out water. Apparently there is some decent portion that is bonded to other chemicals so it won’t boil off till 1000° or more:

The cement got hot enough to glow. When I finished the dryout burn the entire cement liner was glowing a bright orange. We got heat. From the steel rod I stuck in there it’s hitting 2000° or so and not close to full blast. Outside was only 250. So it’s working.

Tomorrow I just need to do a couple finishing touches, and make sure my ppg is up to snuff and refill the propane.
