Glad to see acorn’s dinner emergency was responded to well by the GT Cookery Committee:) So much good food advice here, always.

I roasted a sugar pumpkin the other night for soup. It didn’t make enough (only 2.5 cups) so I added some carrots, a rutabaga & leeks to the mix. One quart of vegetable stock, a chunk of fresh ginger, 3 cloves of garlic & a swirl of maple syrup. Finished with 1/2 a cup of whole milk. All the recipes call for heavy cream but I didn’t have any. The whole milk tasted just fine :) Swirled a teaspoon of sour cream into the bowl with chopped bacon & leeks on top.

Then, 2 rolls of buttermilk biscuits mushed up with fresh, fried bacon & shredded cheddar. I’ve never made them before & they were delicious! Mr. 4th buttered his; I did not. Good either way. (F’ING BACON CHEESEY BISCUITS, !!!)
