What do I do with venison?

One of Mr. Misfit's coworkers has taken to bowhunting deer on his property (this is not a forum on the propriety of hunting so just don't go there, K?) and now we're promised half of their latest kill, an eight point buck. I've never cooked game before, and I have no idea how to store it, among other concerns (how do we know the animal was healthy?) educate me, please. Is that even a lot of meat? I'm a city girl, I know nothing. Country mouse, come to my aid! Most importantly, are deer delicious?
