So it's 3:30 a.m. and I can't sleep because I'm been feeling headache-y and generally lousy for a few days and it's fucked up my whole system, and I was watching a rerun of the Simpsons from last season in an attempt to make being unable to sleep less miserable. And then the episode, from 20 fucking 12, made fun of Alicia Silverstone for being "fat" in Batman, and I just.... can't. It's been 15 years, and the Simpsons, that bastion of liberal tolerance, is still mocking this woman for the crime of putting on a few pounds.

And this is.... goddamn little, after everything fucking else today: Rick Perry's spectacular "fuck you" to the people—and particularly the women—of Texas; the Kotaku commentariat's impassioned concern that they might have to consider being slightly less racist/misogynistic/homophobic/transphobic/etc. from now on; Gawker posters suggesting that the way to combat misogyny is to "rape a chick," or that they want to help, but don't want to get involved with any gross feminists like the ones at Jezebel because they're way too busy trolling them, or that Paula Deen's racism shouldn't count because then the poster might face consequences for their racism, too. I don't want to call it the straw that broke the camel's back, because it's not a goddamn straw, it's a national television show cruelly mocking a woman for not being a size 0. But it's definitely the thing that pushed me from "Wow, people suck" to "ARGH AD INFINITUM SMASH."

I know I'm not exactly at my sanest at the moment, but jesus fucking christ. Why does everyone suck so much?
