that makes them such condescending douches?

For the record, I’m on the fence regarding guns. I respect them as tools, however I’m unsure that we really need them in the quantities and at the levels that they are. My concern also extends to the Second Amendment, since I’ve seen arguments like this one, where the ability to quell slave revolts and hunt runaway slaves is discussed. (I don’t know how accurate this is, since I am not a historian. If anyone has more knowledge on this topic, I’m all ears. Errr, eyes.):

Bringing these things up in a discussion I was having on a friend’s Facebook post, I was snootily informed by the person I was talking to that I should take a college level History course and learn a few things. Considering I’ve taken multiple History courses of both the U.S. and World flavors, I just gave the comment a massive dose of side-eye.

There’s also just so much talk out there about ‘Well, the founding fathers had CANNONS, so what’s the big deal about modern weapons’ and ‘If you let the government take guns, what else will they come for?’ and so on and so forth.

Frell, I have a headache. I’m off to watch anime. Sorry if this is disjointed at all, my own thoughts are a jumble and I needed to vent. =\
