I grew up in rural New England, and for some reason, I’ve been feeling heartsick for it lately. (I now live in a big city that’s far enough away that taking trips back requires time and money that I don’t often have.) In my totally subjective judgment, it’s the most beautiful place in the world.

And I’m wondering: What do GTers think are the most beautiful places? (I wanna see pictures!) What makes a gorgeous landscape? And is home something we automatically find beauty in? Does it matter if you find the place where you live beautiful? Is it a luxury?

My S.O. recently mentioned that he thinks that I’m more bothered by ugliness than other people, and I think that’s true. I was extremely lucky to grow up in such a gorgeous part of the world, and as a very visual person (I’m a graphic designer), I’m particularly sensitive to what things look like. I get sad when I’m stuck in ugly places.

Now let me shamelessly brag by showing you a hundred pictures of how pretty New England is.
