that it's been a month and a half and I have not yet received my security deposit back from my landlords? The lease says it will be returned in a "timely" manner, and I've always been sent a check within 30 days from the move-out date.

My old landlords are nice but lazy/forgetful bros who dragged their feet on every single thing that needed to be fixed or changed. I sent them one email at the end of the month, asking when I could expect to get my money back, and they replied they'd send it out as soon as they got the water bill and deducted my portion from the deposit amount. The water bill gets sent via email on the 25th of each month, so we're a good two weeks out from that.

Do I just keep pestering them? What is the appropriate level of anger/urgency here? Because my version of a scathing email will end up being "Hey Guys! So sorry to bother you. I don't mean to be a pain, etc, etc." I'm not good at these things.
