Oh, friends, it’s been a week. My plumbing clogged up yesterday and despite the plumber best efforts at 10 pm, the clog wouldn’t clear out of the line. So now I am waiting because sometime this afternoon they are coming back with what’s basically a power washer that works inside the main line to clear out clogs.
Oh yeah, it’s the main line that drains into the sewer that clogs. Can’t flush a toilet without backing gross water up into the basement right now. I asked the plumber what was so horrible about my poop and toilet paper that clogged it up, and he explained the clog is from decades of grease and fat going down the drain. So problems from before I lived here, since I don’t drain grease down the since, which came to head. He described it that his de-clogger tool last night was like trying to scoop out really gooey peanut butter which was why he couldn’t clear it. GROSS.
This is a public service announcement to (1) not pour crap down the drains in your homes and (2) use the enzymatic pipe cleaner stuff proactively even if you don’t think there’s anything clogging up your plumbing.
WHINE WITH ME what is causing you frustrating (and/or money you don’t want to spend), friends?
UPDATE! The problem is in the j trap between the yard access point and the sewer. So it’s property of the municipality to permanently fix. The guy today got everything cleared out so I can resume normal activities, but the problem will probably recur at some point because the clay pipes have shifted so there isn’t full flow through the trap to the sewer line.
