Hands down mine is Jacques Pepin. He doesn’t do tv anymore because he’s super old, but I love his reruns. His “Fast Food My Way” series is awsome because you literally see him do all the prep and cooking in that 30 min episode. So often tv shows promising fast food start with food already cleaned and chopped, and I’m always annoyed because the prep work is often the longest part of the process (while I don’t really like her recipes, I always appreciated Rachael Ray’s 30 Minute Meals for the same logic).
Also, when you watch his shows, the commentary is entertaining. He’ll be talking about a recipe for chicken breasts, and he’ll start saying things like “you could make this also with chicken thighs, veal, pork tenderloin, a tender piece of beef, maybe pheasant” you know basically any meat you have. Or it will be a stew and by the end of the time he’s chopped the carrots, you’ll learn that anything in your fridge will work, and eh, don’t worry about measuring, it will turn out fine.
