So here's this thought I keep having, and I want your-all's input. Being a feminist, and being committed to the idea that we should judge people on what they offer and contribute rather than their appearance, I submit that it's perfectly OK to snark on Kim K's looks, weight, wardrobe, etc. Here's why: because that's all she offers. That's all we have to go on. She hasn't given us anything else to judge her on. She is famous, literally (and only), because of her body. On what other basis would we evaluate her?
Other famous women have offered us other things on which to judge them: their paintings, their music, their writing, their leadership, their philosophy, their political accomplishments. To snark on how those women look is wrong, insulting, and just plain stoopid. But Kim K has given us none of those things. She may well be a smart, talented, and and wise individual, whose creations and opinions are worth considering. But as of now we wouldn't know that.
What do you think?
(I'm truly not as obsessed with Kim K as this may seem; it's just an idea I've had for a long time and she's the perfect example to use in the discussion.)
