The BBC had a very interesting discussion on whether we should have debate on banning full face veils. BBC commenters have decided the "moslems" are the problem and we should "not be called the Infidel in our own country". For fuck's sake, my view is that as a free nation we must accept people's religious beliefs and allow them to dress as they wish. I do think obviously we must have exceptions in some cases like passport photos and giving evidence in court but overall as much as a woman with a cover face may offend your personal morals you have to get over it.
I do think it would be a disaster to have any kind of debate in a Parliament with a grand total of three Muslim women (all young, all British born and raised and all who do not wear any coverings) and we certainly shouldn't let the majority debate the rights of the minority in this case.
