This happened a few days ago, but I can't get over it. It's honestly a bit silly that it still preoccupies my mind. Over the weekend, I stayed over my boyfriend's house. I parked my car in this grassy area, so it was probably filled with insects of all sorts. When I was leaving in the morning, about 30 seconds into driving, I noticed this giant green thing on the hood of my car. Turns out it was a praying mantis. I had no idea what to do about it, poor thing. It was freaking out because, HELLO, it was moving through wind and looked like it had been woken up or something like that. I imagine it was a bit terrified. It didn't know what to do, and I didn't know what to do. I wasn't going to stop and try to swat it off the car because I'm afraid of bugs, and praying mantises are HUGE! So I kept driving, unsure of what to do. It was heading towards the windshield, and it was struggling, and I felt so bad. Thinking about it makes me want to cry. But I was also freaked out by it coming near the windshield because I didn't want to visibly see it throughout my drive. So I just kept driving, hoping it would somehow go away. Eventually if jumped behind the left-hand rear view mirror where I couldn't see it, but I guess it either jumped off the car or was pulled off because when I arrived home, it wasn't there anymore. But I still feel so upset...I feel really bad that I didn't stop to do anything to help it. It probably didn't survive. I didn't want to harm it, but...I was too afraid and confused to do anything. I know it's just an insect, but it still looked helpless...
