I’ve always had trouble articulating why “it’s just a joke” bugs me. I mean, it’s obviously horrible, but it felt like more than just a horrible person being horrible.

A lawyer who ALSO did his English dissertation on humor had a tweet storm that basically goes over WHY it’s never “just a joke.” I’m memorizing his arguments for the next time I have to tell off someone for their racist / sexist joke that they try to backpedal on.
