What dishes do you look forward to during the colder season? Do you have a beloved family recipe or is it something you discovered as an adult? Please share links/recipes so we can all have a very tasty, comfy winter.

I discovered pearl barley only as an adult. Growing up it was old, poor people food and had no part in the regular recipe rotation of my parents. I’ve come to love pearl barley, mostly in stews and soups, but as well as a rice replacement in a risotto. Or in a hearty summer grain salad.

I love this stew for it’s simplicity and deliciousness. It takes a while to cook, but in itself it’s not difficult to make. I’ll post the recipe in the comments.
