So I'm on the phone with AT&T because Uverse and while the CSR is running a line test she says something like "so what about that Paul Walker?" What? Where did that come from? I really had no idea what she was talking about and it took me a good 30 seconds to realize that she was talking about the actor who just died a horrible fiery death. I was so confused I actually said "What? Why are you asking me about Paul Walker? What on earth does that have to do with my slow connection?"
If you're going to make small talk, perhaps it would be best to stick with the standard small talk subjects: weather, sports or work. Tragic deaths, not so much. Someone really needs to do a better job training the call center personnel. I get that it's a cultural thing, but really...wow.
