I just walked to a nearby bakery and grabbed a small herb focaccia for my lunch. It was divine, all by itself. I've made biscuits and soda breads (and had them made for me by professionals), and still have to say that nothing tops fresh, quality yeast breads. Focaccia, ciabatta, French baguettes, Italian bread... Man can absolutely live on bread alone. If it's the right kind.
