Is anyone else watching Graceland? The premise is a bit silly, but fun, in a crime-show kinda way. (Agents from the FBI, ICE, & DEA all living & working together in a seized property on the beach in SoCal.) I really enjoy it, because the women are confident and vulnerable, make decisions, and live with the repercussions, both good and bad. The men are great, and the multiracial cast* allows for more interesting storylines for people who wouldn’t otherwise get to tell them. The show really picked up in season 2, introducing a complicated love story for the guy who’d been the clown in season 1, and turning couples against each other. It’s fun. It’s something you can have on in the background, but it’s also solid storytelling when you pay attention to it.
And really, Heyyyy Daniel Sunjata.
And if you want to do a little background on the next Danny Zuko, this is a good start. (The soundtrack to Broadway’s Next to Normal is even better, btw.)
If you haven’t seen it, you should check it out. Season 1 is weaker, but season 2’s pacing & character development is vastly improved. I think it’s on Netflix or Hulu.
*there has to be a better way to say this.
