I don't know why, but today I was thinking about the worst job interview experience I've had, which was for a coordinator of student internships position - obviously, it required lots of tact and interpersonal skills, given that the students in question were artists looking to intern with organizations that tended to display conservative corporate culture in regards to dress code, presentation and the like. I had been a temp within this large company, and decided to use this interview for practice, since I was in my early 20s and my job experience at the time was limited to restaurant service, telephone customer service, guest services and handling ticketed group sales.
Problem was, this woman didn't have a lot of tact herself, and she would ask me a question, I would think about my answer and she would say, "Oh, this isn't that hard! You're going to be doing much worse things on the job!" She kept saying this to show her impatience with me and to tell me I was coming across as inadequate. I came very close to just saying, "I'm unqualified, not what you're looking for, so have a good day," and walking out, but - I gave a lot more fucks at 23.
What has been your most uncomfortable interviewing experience thus far?
